  • Do I need a physician’s referral?

A new law was passed in July, 2013 that allows you direct access to physical therapy evaluation and treatment for a period of 24 calendar days. This means that you can now call us directly and schedule your appointment today. In the event that your recovery requires more than 24 days of treatment, a referral from a health care provider will then be required. We can accept referrals from a physician, physician's assistant, nurse practitioner, chiropractor, or dentist, and we can facilitate this process with the health care provider of your choice.

  • What should I wear?

You should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and/or exercise. For knee or ankle/foot injuries please bring or wear shorts. For low back injuries sweats or flexibility clothing is best.

  • What should I bring with me?

Please bring your insurance card and a photo I.D. to your first appointment. If you have a referral from a health care provider, bring this, as well as any reports specific to your condition.

  • What should I expect on my first visit?

During your first visit, your therapist will take a detailed history of your situation, inquire about your individual goals for therapy, and then complete a thorough evaluation. Your evaluation will include a musculoskeletal assessment of your joints, muscles, nerves, and fascia. If you are here for pelvic floor rehabilitation, then your therapist may complete an internal examination of your pelvic floor muscles to identify any impairments that may be contributing to your condition. Once your evaluation is complete, your therapist will develop a specific treatment plan to resolve the impairments identified in your evaluation and to meet the goals that you set with your therapist.

  • How long will my visit last?

Each visit will last 45-60 minutes. Your first visit will be 60 minutes.

  • What is my responsibility in physical therapy?

You and your therapist will work together to meet your goals for therapy. This often means that your therapist will ask you to complete home exercises. We ask that you cooperate to the best of your ability by completing these exercises as they are specific to your needs and critical to accelerate your recovery.

  • Will my insurance cover physical therapy?

Physical therapy services are covered by most insurance companies and Healthy Expectations participates with Medicare and most health insurance plans. When you call our office to schedule an appointment, we will gather your insurance information and call your insurance company for you to determine what, if any, out of pocket expense you will be responsible for. It is not uncommon to be responsible for a co-pay or co-insurance. When this is the case, payments are expected at the time of your therapy visit. We do accept cash, check, Visa, and Mastercard for payments. Payment plans are also available.

  • What if I have to cancel an appointment?

Please call our office as soon as possible if you need to cancel and reschedule your appointment. We do request a 24-hour notice for cancellations. Cancellations made with less than a 24-hour notice may be subject to a $25 cancellation charge not billable to your insurance.

  • How do I arrange an appointment?

Please call us to schedule an appointment. Our phone number is (260) 483-9933 and we are available for appointments from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday.

  • Is it OK to ask my doctor about physical therapy?

Absolutely. If you have a situation that you think may be helped by physical therapy, do not hesitate to speak with your health care provider. If you would like, you can give one of our therapists a call for more information on how to talk to your health care provider. A referral from a health care provider is no longer required for you to receive physical therapy (for the first 24 calendar days), but if you do receive a referral, you can take that referral to the physical therapy clinic of your choice.
